  • Near-sighted lenses: diverging lenses that diverges light before it reaches the eye

  • Cuckoo clock: Franz Anton Ketterer (1676-1749)
  • Near-eyed lenses: probably Nicholas of Cusa (1401-1464)

WHERE/WHEN WAS THE INVENTION INVENTED?

  • Cuckoo clock: Germany (Black Forest) in 1738
  • Near-sighted lenses: Roman Empire in 1451

WHY WAS IT INVENTED?

  • Cuckoo clock: there was really no reason for its invention, it was a new style of clocks
  • Near-sighted lenses: Nicholas was near-sighted himself, so he created concaved lenses for himself and others who had poor eyesight
