PRESENTATION OUTLINE
The reported speech is about something that a person said and you inform about that🌚.
In the reporting the verb is in the past.
DIRECT SPEECH.
- I love spaghetti.
- Niall doesn't like the new film.
- I'm quite happy.
- The school isn't very good.
- We are studying Spanish.
REPORTED SPEECH.
- He said that he love spaghetti.
- She told us that Niall didn't like the new film.
- She said she was quite happy.
- He said that the school wasn't very good.
- Zayn said they were studying Spanish.
USE💁🏽.
There are two ways of reporting what people say.
☝🏻.Liam said "This book is very interesting".
✌🏻.Liam said (that) the book was very interesting.
We can repeat the actual words spoken in a quotation marks (" "), as in sentences 1, or use reported speech as in sentences 2. When we use reported speech, the pronouns, tenses and adverbs of time and place may all change.
Say and tell are the most common reporting verbs. There is an important difference.

Tell is always followed by a direct object: tell + someone (that) + reported statement.
"He told her that he was tired.
NOT "He told that he was tired".
Say is not followed by direct object : say (that) + reported statement.
"He said he was tired. He said to me he was tired.
NOT "He said me that he was tired"
We use the reported speech to might said something about that someone tell us.
