STATISTICS REGARDING TEEN VIOLENCE

  • NYC in 2011 10.4% of high school students reported hit, slapped, physically hurt
  • 2010 4,828 young people 10 to 24 were homicide average of 13 each day
  • Among homicide victim ages 10-24 old in 2010 82.8% were killed by a firearm

CAUSES OF TEEN VIOLENCE

  • Abuse at home or child grows up in a violent home
  • External influences like cyber bullying
  • Gangs gang violence among teens is a big thing
  • Alcohol & drugs causes recurrent hangovers, lost of interest, asking for money
  • Underlying mental disorder: negativity, anger issues, aggressive to adults

THINGS THAT MIGHT PREVENT TEEN VIOLENCE

  • Being treated the way you want to be treated treat people how you want to be treated
  • Don't consume drugs or alcohol, and don't carry weapons
  • Learning new hobbies, and don't spread rumors

WARNING SIGNS THAT VIOLENCE MIGHT OCCUR

  • Anger, frustration, anger used to get what they want
  • Quite, not talking or in the best mood
  • Listening to others that might give you negative feed back
  • Bullying somebody and releasing your anger
  • Aren't listening to people and just ignoring them
