RESPONSE TO SABBATH LAWS

(LK 6:1, 11:37, 13:10, 14:1, 19:45)

LK 6:1

  • Jesus is going through a field of grain
  • His disciples begin eating the grain on the sabbath day.
  • Jesus explained that it is okay to feed his friends and himself on the Sabbath
  • Jesus shares his food with his companions.

LK 11:37

  • Jesus dines with the pharises
  • The pharises is confused when Jesus doesn't wash his hands before dinner
  • Jesus reminds the pharises that he is full of evil and plunder.
  • Washing himself would do no good.

Lk 13:10

  • Jesus teaches in a synaguage on the Sabbath day.
  • Jesus later cured a lady in the church.
  • The priest was not thrilled because this was on the sabatth
  • He still is promoting good while working on the sabbath.

Lk 14:1

  • Jesus heals a man on the sabbath day
  • The people in the Pharisees house were observing him carrefully.
  • Jesus while also curing a suffering man was doing on the sabbath day

Lk 19:45

  • Jesus cleanses the temple.
  • Jesus drove out people selling in the temple.
  • He announces," My house shall be a house of prayer, not a den of thieves."
  • He cleanses the temple on the sabbath day

OVERVIEW of Jesus

  • Shared food with disciples
  • Doesn't wash his hands before dinner
  • Cures a women in the church
  • Cures a suffering man
  • Cleanses the temple
