- He moved to Plymouth, Massachusetts for law practice.
- Soon after he lived in Plymouth, he moved his law practice to Boston.

- He was a lawyer in colonial Massachusetts.
- A member of the Massachusetts provincial assembly.
- He was also an early advocate of the Patriot views against British policy.
