WHERE DID HE LIVE?

  • He lived in West Barnstable, Massachusetts at birth.
  • He moved to Plymouth, Massachusetts for law practice.
  • Soon after he lived in Plymouth, he moved his law practice to Boston.

OCCUPATION

  • He was a lawyer in colonial Massachusetts.
  • A member of the Massachusetts provincial assembly.
  • He was also an early advocate of the Patriot views against British policy.

REMARKABLE PARTS OF HIS LIFE

  • His part in the Patriot views against British policy led to the Revolutionary War.
  • Otis was a graduate of Harvard College in 1743
  • He was a leader in the Patriot movement
  • First well-known American to defend natural rights of Africans and to condemn slavery
