Rick Riordan was born June 5, 1964 in San Antonio, Tx.

Education: He went to Alamo High School. There he worked for the school's newspaper and made an underground paper that made fun of the school. When he graduated he went to North Texas State planning a music career but instead went to the University of Texas in Austin. He graduated with a double major in English and History. Then went on to teach in San Antonio ISD.

Childhood: the 1st book he read for fun was the Lord of the Rings which he read about 10 times. He was 13 when he submitted his 1st story, but it wasn't published. His 1st published works were 2 short stories in the UTSA literary magazine.
