TYPE OF BOUNDARY

  • Rift valley is a divergent boundry
  • Divergent - plate moves apart and forms new crust

INFORMATION

  • Most rift are found under water along large ridges ( run throught the ocean)
  • Valleys are offten narrow with steep sides and flat floor
  • Rift valley differ from other valleys because they created by tectonic activity ( not erosion)
  • Most of them occur along the northern crest of the mid-atlantic ridges
