They are the most recognized lemur due to long, black and white ringed tail. When born, a ring-tailed lemur baby weighs less than 100 g (3 oz.). The newborn is carried on its mother’s chest for 1-2 weeks and then is carried on her back. At 2 weeks, the baby starts eating solid food. The male lemurs will also engage in stink fights. A stink fight is where, the males will grab their tails, put them under their arm pits, and then flick their tails at each other. They do this, because they will fight over the girls. When a ring-tailed lemur is full grown, they are about 2 feet tall. Omnivorous animal, and diurnal. Diurnal is where they sleep at night, and are active during the day! Like us!
They prefer dense euphorbia and riparian forests. They prefer dense euphorbia and riparian forests. These lemurs are endangered creatures. Their tail is longer than their body too! And last but not least. Believe it or not, these lemurs spend most of the time running, playing, fighting and occasionally sleeping on the ground.
