Rip Van Winkle
A good-natured man. He descended from soldiers but is still peaceful. He is loved by many but is incapable of doing work. When he is sleep for 20 years, the world around him is fine without him.
Dame Van Winkle
She is the average naggy, bitter woman who is always berating her husband. She shouts insults into the neighborhood. Rip Van Winkle tries to escape her.
Judith Gardenier
Rip Van Winkles oldest daughter who supports and lets her father stay with her after he awakes from his long sleep and find out that his wife is dead.
Nicholaus Vedder
He is the landlord of the inn and the leader of a male gossip group. He does not speak but expresses his opinion strongly by the way he smokes his pipe.
Peter Vanderdonk
The oldest person in the village. He helps Rip Van Winkle be accepted after being gone for a very long time.
Geoffrey Crayon
The narrator of the story. Travels a lot. Likes
to tell stories of people.
