The Hmong people has lived and traveled in Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The hmong play a special flute instument, it is usually for funerals to honor the man or women who has passed.
In the Hmong culture, the youngest son in the family has to stay with the mother and take care of her until she passes away.
They practiced agriculture and grew crops, then they move to new areas to grow new crops.
There are two types of dialects of the Hmong language there is a Green dialect and a White dialect, it is the same lanuage but some words are pronounced differently whether in Green or White dialect.

The main Rite Of Passage is marriage, the bride gets married when they are fifteen or seventeen.
Another part of the Rite Of Passage is that the youngest son in the family has to stay with the mother for as long as she lives.
When the couple gets married, each person stands up and says a speech for the couple for good luck in their relationship.
There are four to six million hmong people in the world right now so the Rite of Passage relates to all of them.
The Hmong rite of passage, when a baby is born the hmong ties strings to the babys wrist and says something to the family for good luck.

The Rite of Passage for the Giver is that they get assigned assessments and the job they get is for them for their rest of their lives.
The assessments they get is random, they will be assigned right away.
One of the jobs is the Reciver Of Memory, he recieves memories from the Giver.
The elders put couples together, they dont get married, they get put together by the elders decision.
The Giver is special, he shares memories with the Reciever of Memory.

The Giver is similar to us because Im 12 years old and we would be assigned an assesment like Jonas and the others.
This is similar to my culture in marriage the couple gets tied together and gets strings teid to their wrists and the people say something to them for good luck in their marriage.
The Giver for the couples they dont get married, the elders decide, in my culture couples are tied together and are honored .
For Ryan it is the same, he is 12 years old and he would be assingned a job also.
We and the Giver have lots in common, in ages 11 or 12 they gets assessments, we work in schools and we decide what life we want for us.
