  • Red Flag- Emergent
  • Yellow Flag- Non Urgent/Minor
  • Green Flag- Urgent

Red Flag

  • Emergent = 0 - 30 minutes
  • Physician Intervention
  • Potential threat to life, limb, & fxn
  • Abdominal pain, allergic reactions, mental status changes, vaginal bleeding, chest pain, etc...
  • Potential transfer to higher level of care

Yellow Flag

  • Non Urgent/Minor = 24 hours
  • Nursing Intervention in partnership with MD Mentor
  • Protocol or Policy & Procedure
  • Conjunctivitis, Fever, Flu, Medication Problem, URI's, Sore Throat, UTI, Viral Infections, DMI's, Lab Prescriptions, Refills, etc...

Green Flag

  • Urgent = 2 hours
  • Physician Intervention
  • Requires multiple resources, i.e. Lab, Xray, CT Scan, IVF, Monitoring, Sutures, Procedure, etc...
  • May require some coordination of care- Ortho, GI, OB, etc...

  • If Nursing Intervention/Nursing Diagnosis then Treat & Release
  • MD Mentor Available for Team Collaboration
