  • Canceled all empresario contracts that were not fufilled
  • Encouraged Mexican and European settlement in Texas
  • Slaves could NOT be brought to Texas
  • Taxes were placed on U.S. goods
  • Texas colonists were angered

DISTURBANCE AT ANAHUAC

  • William Logan came to Anahuac to get 2 runaway slave, Bradburn would not release them without ownership proof, Patrick Jack and Travis (Williams lawyers) were put in jail
  • Colonists decided to meet a Turtle Bayou to decide what to do next

  • They wrote a resolution that they supported Santa Anna, but didn't support the Mexican government
  • Santa Anna, Bustamante, Texas Army,Piedras
  • Settlers decided they needed a canon, just in case, but they got stopped in Velasco

  • The Mexican army would not let the settlers pass to get the cannon, and they had a small battle
  • Texan army, Mexican army
  • The Mexican army rainout of ammunition and had to surrender.
  • Travis and Jack were freed

CONVENTIONS OF 1832 & 1833

  • Separate Texas from Coahuila and become a state in Mexico
  • Stephen F. Austin went to Mexico City
  • Stephen went to Mexico city and had to wait because the king was busy and then he went to jail because he sent a letter to Texas to go ahead and write their constitution, and the Mexican government enter doted his letters.
