RED SCARE

  • Hysteria over the perceived threat posed by communists.

PALMER RAIDS

  • A number of attacks on socialists and communists from 1918-1921.
  • Named after Alexander Palmer, who blamed most of the countries problems on American communists.

SACCO-VANZETTI CASE

  • Anarchists- believing social justice could come only through destruction of governments.
  • Executed august 1927.
  • People argued they did not receive a fair trial, not enough evidence.

KU KLUX KLAN

  • Died out in late 1800s, revived in 1915 by William Simmons.
  • Moved from just blacks to Catholics, Jews and foreigners.
  • Promoted fundamentalism along with advocating white supremacy.

  • American Industrialist
  • Founder of Ford motor company.
  • Sponsor of development of the assembly line technique of mass production.

ASSEMBLY LINE

  • Invented in 1901 by Ransom E. Olds
  • Purpose was to assemble quicker and cheaper.

18TH AMENDMENT

  • Prohibits the manufacture, sale, transport, import/export of alcoholic beverages.
