ROBERT MILLIKAN

HISTORY

  • Born 22 March 1868 Morrison Illinois
  • Received bachelors degree in Oberlin College in 1891
  • Received doctorate in physics in Columbia University in 1895

In 1908 he did an oil-drop experiment which discovered the charge of a single electron

This was the formula he used to find it out.

Millikan's value for the charge of a single electron was slightly incorrect.
