ROBERT FALCON SCOTT

Robert was born June 6th 1868 in Devon park

He died on The 29th of March 1912 at the Ross ice shelf. This means he lived for 44 years.

Robert started sailing at the age of 13

'HMS Discovery' was the ship he explored Antarctica on.

His first expedition was in 1901-4. It was organise jointly with the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Society, it was equipped for scientific research it was concerned about the exploration of the region around the Ross Sea

He came on the exposition with another Antarctic explorer named Ernest Shackleton. Ernest died when his ship (The Endurance) was crush when it was trapped in the Ross ice shelf. He was left to die on the ice shelf itself

33 days earlier, a Norwegian team lead by Ronald Amundsen has beaten Roberts team to the South Pole.

After the expedition with Ernest Robert died along with the other crew members.

On the 12 of 1912 a 12 men search party found the tent and Roberts body.
