RWJ's History

-RWJ was born on February 20, 1845 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania
-RWJ didn't attend school but received an apprenticeship from his uncle to work for the apothecary of Wood & Tittmer
-RWJ had two wives, Ellen Cutler and Evangeline Brewer Armstrong
-RWJ had four kids named Robert Wood Johnson II, Roberta Johnson, John Seward Johnson, and Evangeline Johnson Miller
-RWJ's motivation was to be the first to sell sterile
surgical dressings. He also needed to help his brothers who were having money problems

Description of Business

-The business started in 1886 with a factory in New Brunswick, New Jersey and an office in New York
-RWJ's brothers started the company while he was working with George Seabury
-RWJ focused on being the first to sell sterile surgical dressings
-RWJ achieved this goal and also came up with the first-aid kit in addition to selling baby products
-Johnson & Johnson's net worth is about $65 billion
-The first factory was in New Brunswick, New Jersey and now they have 250 companies in about 60 different countries

-RWJ died in 1910 of Bright's Disease at age 64
-Johnson & Johnson came out with Band-Aids in 1921
