Robotic Surgery is a method of preforming surgery by using very small tools attached to a robotic arm. The surgeon can then make very small and precise movements by controling the robotic arm on a computer.

The surgeon operates while seated comfortably, viewing a highly magnified 3D image of the body’s interior.
The patient cart holds up to three EndoWrist instruments and one 3D camera.

How it is Being Used

  • Cutting cancer tissue
  • Hip replacement
  • Kidney romoval
  • Kidney transplant
  • Etc.

Availability, Price, etc.

  • Robots cannot yet preform every surgery, but can do many.
  • It was first invented in 1985
  • Avaibility is steadily growing
  • The actual robotic machine can cost from 1 million- 2.5 million per unit
  • Price ranges depending on the type of surgery
