  • The tallest mountain in the Rockies is Mount Elbert, Colorado at 14,413 feet.
  • The Rockies are 3,000 miles long

BASIC FACTS

  • Most mountains exceed timberline
  • A continental divide is a drainage divide on a continent such that the drainage basin on one side of the divide feeds into one ocean or sea, and the basin on the other side either feeds into a different ocean or sea.

INTERESTING FACTS

  • Some minerals found in the Rockies are zinc, lead, cooper, silver and gold.
  • The tribes that settled in the Rockies are Cheyenne, Apache and Sioux
  • The Rockies are split in to four parts 750 miles each.
  • The first European explorer who crossed the Rockies was Sir Alexander McKenzie in 1793

WHY OR WHY NOT TO LIVE THERE

  • I would not want to live there because it is so high in the mountains and cold because of the elevation.
  • A reason why I would want to live there is because at the bottom there is lots of food, water, and trees.
