TWELVE TABLES

  • A code that explained the laws during the republic era.
  • Carved in stone and put up in the Forum so that everyone could see them.

ROMAN CALENDARS

  • Every month had an odd number of days.
  • Julius Caesar changed the year to 365 days instead of 355 days.

ROMAN BOOKS

  • They stacked pages of papyrus to make the books.
  • Early christians became some of the first to adapt the use of the book.

ROMAN ROADS

  • Constructed with dirt, gravel, and bricks.
  • Each time a new building was built a road was built straight back to Rome from that building.

ROMAN BATHS

  • There would be a fire to heat up the walls, floor, and water.
  • Every town had a bath house.

  • Built because there was not enough water in the city (Rome).
  • Held up by bridges which are held up by arches.

  • These early newspapers were written on metal, stone, or papyrus.
  • Pasted around highly populated areas such as the Forum.
