December 1, 1955
She was riding on the 1st row of the blacks section on the bus
She was told to move or else the bus driver would call the police
When she refused she was arrested for civil disobdience

BUS BOYCOTT BEGINS
On her trial date 90% of the black citizens staged a protest
Led by 26 year old pastor named Martin Luther King Jr.
Extended protest thoughts begin after the success of the one day boycott
MIA- Montgomery Improvement Association
King was named president, E.D. Nixon was vice president

PERSECUTION
King and nearly 80 other boycotters were arrested
60% of those arrested were convicted
State of Alabama v. Martin Luther King Jr.
King and others members of MIA houses bombed
boycott continues
