Bostwick Consistometer

Sample and Stopwatch
Assemble the Bostwick, The sample to be tested and a stopwatch

Level the Trough

Get the bubble to the middle
Be sure that the trough is level. The bubble should be in the center od the ring.

After Filling Reservoir With Sample

Prepare to Release the Trigger
Close the gate. Fill the reservoir to the top with sample. Prepare to release the Trigger

Prepare to Start Stopwatch

Simultaneously

   Release Trigger And Start Stopwatch
Release the trigger and with the free hand start the stop watch.

Sample

Starts to Flow Down Trough
The sample starts to flow down the trough.

After Pre Set Time

Read the Position at Front of the Sample
After a predetermined time, stop the watch read the distance at the front of the sample. in the case the test result would be "6.8 Bostwicks or 6.8 centimeters after 55 seconds"

55 Seconds

2. Close and latch the gate, fill the reservoir and prepare to release the trigger.

Prepare to Start Stopwatch

3. With your other hand start the stopwatch and release the gate at the same time.

After Pre Set Time

Read the Position at Front of the Sample
4. After a pre determined time stop the watch and read the distance at the front of the sample.
