Alexandra with the help of Rasputin drove the government into chaos
Russia experienced food shortages and poverty
Revolutionaries came up with radical plans that encouraged revolt

MARCH/FEBRUARY REVOLUTION
Angry citizens marched in the streets in St.Peterberg
Marchers were chanting for bread
Police and soldiers were sent out to stop marchers
Instead marchers were shown sympathy and joined by the police
Nicholas II was forced to abdicate

BOLSHEVIK REVOLUTION
Russia's military force was weak and that led to it collapsing
Czar is over thrown and Bolshevik take over without a struggle
1870-1920 Civil War occurring between "Reds" and "Whites"
Bolsheviks ended private land ownership and created new flag
Membership part for the Bolshevik and their power was consolidated

THE ROLE OF LENIN
Lenin encouraged the idea of revolution
He was the founder of Bolshevism
Lenin disbanded the Constituent Assembly
Promised peasants "Peace,Land,Bread"
Studied Karl Marx's works and spread Marxism and Socialism

LIFE UNDER LENIN
Lenin established a radical communist system
Put together a secret political police called CHEKA
He reorganized the country and renamed it the Soviet Union
Redistribution of land back to peasants
Treaty of Brest-Litovsk made peace with Germany
