  • Transition metal (metal & non-metal)
  • Conductive Ability: hardens Platinum & Palladium,wear-resistant electrical contacts
  • At room temperature, Ruthenium becomes a solid
  • Appears to be silver-like, thick, smooth, rock material

  • Does not react with water under normal conditions
  • Dust, powder, or fume may be flammable when exposed to heat or flame
  • Occurs in nature near platinum deposits in the Ural Mts. In Russia
  • Belongs in the platinum group of the periodic table
