PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Processes Involved in the Sacrament of Reconciliation

1 - Contrition

  • Before confessing your sins to the Priest, you need to feel remorse or guilt for the actions you commited.

1 - CONTRITION (cont.)

  • If you don't, then your apology, or confession, won't be genuine, and there will be nothing to improve it.

2 - CONFESSION

  • Confession is about 'Confessing your sins'.
  • Also know as apologising to God, it's a way to say sorry for your actions.

3 - Penance

  • The Priest then gets us to recite a prayer, usually of kindness and love.

4 - Act of Contrition

  • The Priest then asks us to recite the 'Act of Contrition', to express our sorrow.

5 - Absolution

  • After grieving over our sins, reciting the Act of Contrition, and Confessing, we then receive absolution.

5 - ABSOLUTION (cont.)

  • The Priest, during absolution, forgives us, on behalf of God, for sinning.

6 - Dismissal

  • After forgiving us, the Priest then tells us to 'Go in peace,' performing the penance the Priest has asked of us.
