Holy water font

• The water in the water font, or bowl, has been blessed by a priest. 
• It holds the holy water. 
• As we enter the church, we dip our fingers into the holy water 
• and make the sign of the cross. 
• It reminds us that we became members of the church when baptized.

• The altar is a special table in Church. It is the Lord's table. 
• It is the holy place where Eucharist is offered. 
• It is blessed with incense and we bow before it. 
• The priest kisses the altar at the beginning and end of mass.

• It stores the Holy Bread that is Jesus.
• It is kept locked. 
• Holy Communion can be brought to people who are too sick to attend Mass. 
• A sanctuary light burns near the tabernacle. It burns day and night.
• It tells is that Jesus is present in the tabernacle.

• The priest sits on a special chair to show that he represents
• Christ and all of us when he leads, or presides, over Mass.

• This is a special stand where God's Word is read.
• The holy book that has readings from the Bible is placed here. 
• This book is called the Lectionary.

• A crucifix, or cross, is near the altar. 
• The cross may have the figure of Jesus on it. 
• It reminds us of God's great love for us.

• The candles are blessed to be used in Mass.
• Lighted candles remind us of God, the Giver 
• of Life, and Jesus, who came to be light of the world.

Statues
