ANIMAL BITES

  • What - Caused from teeth of animals
  • Why - Self -Defence
  • - attempt to prey for food
  • - during normal interactions
  • Effects - Tear in skin, bruises and punctured wound.

PETS : DOGS / CATS

  • Symptoms - Cuts, brusies
  • - Fever, headache
  • First Aid - Calm the person, wash wounds
  • - bleeding : wrap with cloth
  • - call doctor or visit emergency

WILD ANIMAL BITES - MONKEY

  • 2 - 21% of animal bites are from monkey.
  • Second most common.
  • Travellers are at most risk.
  • Treatment includes - testing for rabies
  • - Administering antibiotics , cleansing of wound

PREVENTION

  • Teach children not to approach strange animals.
  • Do not tease or disturb animals.
  • Never leave a young child alone with a pet.
  • Do not approach or play with unfamiliar stray pets.
  • Do not pet stray animals.
