My favorite Khalifah/Sahaba is Umar bin al- Khattab because of his bravery, honestly and his leadership.

One day Umar was leaving Makkah because of the persecutions. On his way he ran into Prophet Muhammad and he was reciting Surah Haaqah. Something came into Umars heart he felt like loved islam but, at the same time he hated it.

In determination of Umars anger he made a sudden decision to kill Prophet Muhammad. On his way he ran into Ni'am Abdullah, while talking Umar he found out that Umar was on his way to kill the Prophet.

Ni'am directly told Umar to speak to his sister before taking this decision. Interfering that she was a muslim. Once Umar went to visit his sisters house he heard the recitation of the Quran. Umar asked have you lost faith in your ancestors?

There was no answer, right then Umar started beating his sister and her husband. Upon seeing his sisters blood he began to feel guilty. He apologized to his sister and her husband. Then he requested to hear the recitation of the Quran, his sister recited Surah Tahaa and then islam started to come into Umars heart once again.
