Covenant with Noah
God caused a flood to punish his people for sinning
After the flood, God created an everlasting covenant with Noah and his disciples.
God promised to never destroy the Earth with a flood again.
The purpose of this flood was to unite all of God's disciples into a family.

Covenant with Abraham
God created a covenant with Abraham
He promised him a new name and many descendants
Abraham became "the father of faith"
God was faithful to His covenant with Abraham by granting him a son, Isaac.
Isaac's son Jacob (Israel) fathered twelve sons

COVENANT WITH MOSES, the sinai covenant
God freed the Israelites from slavery in Egypt
God gave His people the law through Moses
The law was for people to "recognize God and serve him as one." (pg 14)
This law officially made the Israelites God's special people

KINGS AND PROPHETS
God promised His people, the Israelites, their own land in Canaan.
The land was governed by judges and kings
Jerusalem was the capital city, and David was its greatest king.
God sent prophets to help unite his people

God created many writings including the Book of Psalms
The Book of Psalms is essential to Wisdom Literature
They praise God for everything he has done for his people
Some Psalms tell of a coming of a future Messiah
They share hope that God will finally restore Israel and right all wrongs

Jesus Christ, the new covenant
Climax of Salvation History is when Jesus enters the world
"He is the only Son of the Father; he is God himself." (pg 15)
John the Baptist baptized Jesus and recognized that he was a Messiah
Jesus Christ is God's way of saving us through his passion, death, and resurrection.
