Samhain night

  • The ancient Celts , come the end of October, I used to celebrate a big party to mark "the end of the harvest," baptized with the Gaelic word Samhain . It means etymologically ' late summer This festival represents the time of year when the ancient Celts stored winter supplies and sacrificed animals .
  • Harvest time was over, and thereafter , the days would be shorter and the nights longer . The Celts believed that on this night of Samhain ( Halloween today ) the spirits of the dead returned to visit the world of mortals . They lit bonfires to scare away evil spirits. It was the nightlife of the New Year .
  • The custom was to leave food and sweets out of their houses and light candles to help the souls of the dead to find their way to the light and the rest by the sun god in the Summerlands .

Samhain night BECOMES HALLOWEEN NIGHT

  • A mid-eighteenth century, Irish immigrants begin to arrive in North America. With them they come, culture, folklore, traditions, and also the night of Samhain. Of course with some changes, these Europeans began to use larger and easier-long ahuecar- pumpkins instead of turnips. At first, the party suffers severe repression by the authorities in New England, rooted Lutheran tradition. But in the late nineteenth century, the United States receive a new wave of immigrants from Celtic origin. The Irish party then mixed with other Indian beliefs and colonial sequel, Halloween includes among its traditions known legend of Jack-o-lantern, as is currently known, "Jack O'Lantern." This legend has its origin in a morose and quarrelsome Irishman named Jack, who tells the tradition that ran into the devil one night, on October 31,. Since then he began to spread the black legend of Jack-o-lantern; Jack the dark lantern. In addition to this legend in the Halloween night it is a tradition tell ghost stories and performing pranks, jokes or traditional dances. People begin to make costumes or Halloween costumes.

The leyend of the Boy of the ball.

  • That is located in Av. Lopez Mateos state in Aguascalientes, Mexico, there is an office building, where some employees usually come a little later than usual. At that time a girl had boarded the elevator and a man rushing within walking distance asked him to wait for him. Kindly girl stood beside the doors to prevent these closed. The man approached, and while it gave good night, noticed that the elevator rose. The fact seemed a little strange, as was supposed to be programmed not to go beyond that floor because the top was closed and nobody worked there. The elevator stopped on the fourth floor, but the doors did not open so we thought it was a temporary failure, but reached to hear the laughter of a child playing with a ball. Without giving them time to think about anything, down the elevator, leaving the watchman they saw what happened and he commented. The man very calmly tells them that he has also heard that it is the spirit of a child who died there years ago when his ball landed on the fourth floor, the boy went for it and saw a guard approached, He hid to make a joke, but when the child ran screaming, the guard shot him thinking he was a thief. Since then the child plays quietly on the fourth floor, who knocks the ball against the floor steps stays up late can hear the laughter,. Other not so lucky have seen the ball down the stairs when the child is falling from the top floor, this is marked with burns small child hands ... after that people give up their jobs, it is known that behind a ball ... always comes a kid ... and do not like to run into the small deceased.
