TAY-SACHS DISEASE

BY: SAMI S., ZACH N., RYAN H., TROY B., AAKRITI S.,

WHAT ORGANELLE MIGHT THIS DISORDER BE ASSOCIATED?

LYSOSOMES ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE DISEASE IN THE PERSONS BODY.

WHAT IS THE NORMAL FUNCTION OF THIS ORGANELLE?

  • Digestion of lipids, carbs, and proteins into small molecules to be used by the rest of the cell.
  • Breaks down organelles that are no longer needed.

HOW DOES THE ORGANELLE FACILITATE ITS FUNCTION

  • It is taken in the lysosomes and spreads
  • Attack nervous system and affects mobility
  • Other activities that require mobility are dangerous to them

HOW DOES THE DISEASE PRODUCE?

  • To recycle lipids your lysosomes need a enzyme called hex A
  • People with Tay-Sachs don't have the DNA instructions
  • To make Hex A correctly.
  • The lipids fill up in the lysosomes in the brain And
  • Causes their brain to hurt.

MICHAEL'S SYMPTOMS

  • Mobility is reduced
  • Red, cherry spot.
  • Anything requiring mobility is dangerous
  • Weakens muscles as well

EXPLINATION

  • Red spot is caused by a pile of ganglion cells.
  • The ganglion cells builds up because hex A is missing
  • Mobility is decreased because the lost in hex A shuts it down
