HOW I UNDERSTAND SAMR

SUBSTITUTION

• Replace non-tech with tech
• No real difference in learning
• Replace paper WS with pdf

AUGMENTATION

• Tech adds functional improvement over substitution
• Use iPad tools to enhance a document/presentation
• Dictionary, Camera, etc.

MODIFICATION

• Tech allows for significant task redesign/improvement
• Allows to communicate in ways meaningful to self
• "App smashing"

REDEFINITION

• Tech allows for totally new creation
• Couldn't be done without tech
• Authentic meaning for self and others
• Stop saying "Hand it in," start saying , "Publish it!"
