QUOTES OF DEHUMANIZATION

  • "They were so hungry, they nibbled dry grass, bits of straw." (P. 107)
  • These quotes exemplify dehumanizing by showing how they were physically
  • neglected until the point of starvation. They had to become resourceful
  • And do what they had to to live, like an animal.

QUOTE OF DEHUMANIZATION

  • "One of the village women went over to the small girl and with a quick gester
  • yanked the rings through her ears, tearing the tiny lobes." (P.98)
  • Here the little girl is treated like she has no feelings or if she did they had
  • total disregard for them. This shows that they are something that is less
  • than human.

QUOTE OF HUMANIZATION

  • ""Quick, child come now," she said, holding out her hands. "You are safe here.
  • You are safe with us.""
  • This shows that someone does think of them as human beings. That they do
  • deserve love and to be treated well.

QUOTE OF HUMANIZATION

  • "My baby. My baby was safe within me."
  • This shows humanization because she is loving something
  • that is not tangible yet. She has a great passion and love for
  • something that some people take for granted.
