SATANISM
- The worship of satan or a satanic figure
Satanism is a term referring to a group of social movements with diverse ideological and philosophical beliefs. Their shared religion includes symbolic association with or admiration for Satan, whom Satanists see as an inspiring figure to self-development and independence.
Satan and Satanism started to gain a new meaning outside of Christianity.
Explain.
Satanist groups that appeared after the 1960s are widely diverse, but two major trends are theistic Satanism and atheistic Satanism. Theistic Satanists depict Satan as a supernatural god, viewing him not as a bad guy but rather as a patriarch. In contrast, atheistic Satanists regard Satan as just a symbol of certain human traits. Typically those that Christianity would categorize as sins.
public practice of Satanism began with the founding of The Church of Satan in 1966, historical records show a group called the Ophite Cultus Satanas was founded in Ohio by Herbert Arthur Sloane in 1948
Satanism however is not is mainly an American based belief, many people outside of the United States said it began here because some citizens have too much freedom. However the idea of satanism is growing fast to other societies and nations through the power of the internet.
A few places it has spread other than the U.S. east Europe, Poland , and Lithuania
