Where are Savannas located?

Savannas are located in Africa, India, Austrailia, and South America

ANIMALS OF THE SAVANNA

  • Birds, they have a lightweight but strong skeleton.
  • Elephants, they weigh more than 13,000 pounds.
  • Zebras, they eat a variety of grasses.
  • Horses, there are more than 400 different types.
  • Giraffes, they have a camel-like shape and a leopard-like pattern.

PLANTS OF THE SAVANNA

  • Star grass, they grow in a variety of fertile soils.
  • Lemon grass, it is known for the taste that it adds to food.
  • Baobab (bay-oh-bab) tree, there are 9 species.
  • Acacia (a-kay-shuh) tree, it is commonly known as Whistling Tree or Thorntree.
  • Rhodes grass, it can grow in many types of habitat.

Climate

The Savannas usually have 10 - 30 inches of rain per year, and the temperature is usually 68 - 86 degrees farenhiet

The soil conditions in the Savannas are generally low so it makes it hard for farming
