WHO IS THE TRUE VILLAIN

OF SCARLET LETTER
Start by reading Essential question,

In this drawing you can see a broken heart, which symbolizes a man turned evil by rejection and abandonment, or a skull, which symbolizes true evil with no motive.

Jerry Jenkins

What makes a Villain, a Villain?
"A Villain isn't evil for the sake of being evil, they have backstory and reasons. Look at any classics and you'll see their own narrative and even sometimes they can be the true hero."

Does anybody know who Jerry Jenkins is?

He is the author of Left behind and Soon so he knows what it's like to write in villains and heroes.

Around 2 years ago he spoke at UCLA for a session about writing about all subject! He later published his lesson on his website JerryJenkins.com the article is called "How to Write" and the part I'm using is "15 Tips on how to write a Villain".

One keynote Jenkins taught was perspective and the big picture.

He told us, the readers, to think who's narrative is the book told? Does the story change in someone else's perspective?

In Scarlet Letter Chillingworth and Hester are perfectly married then Dimmesdale arrives and leds Hester to an affair. From there Dimmesdale abandons Hester and his new daughter, now who's the villain here?

So is Chillingworth a brute? Or was Dimmesdale the true villain who left a "hero" and now history remembers Chillingworth as a villain rather than a loyal husband.
