PRESENTATION OUTLINE

SCAVENGER HUNT

THE GREATEST GROUP EVER :)

ELEMENT #1

  • Titanium
  • This golf club is made of titanium.
  • Ti

ELEMENT #2

  • Compressed nitrogen (found in a fire extinguisher)
  • N

COMPOUND #1

  • Crystal chandelier
  • Made up of silicon and oxygen elements chemically combined (SiO2)
  • (There are many types of crystal)

COMPOUND #2

  • This soil has methane in it.
  • Methane is a compound (CH4)
  • It is made up of carbon and hydrogen.

HOMOGENOUS MIXTURE #1

  • This perfume looks the same throughout.
  • Just like HOMOZYGOUS DNA has two of the same traits given
  • (Such as gg or GG)

HOMOGENOUS MIXTURE #2

  • The second mixture we found was air freshener
  • Beautiful garden scented!! :)
  • Same thing- it looks the same throughout, and resembles
  • the Homozygous DNA that is passed down through generations

HETEROGENOUS MIXTURE #1

  • We chose a homemade soy sauce with spices and oil, etc.
  • Each ingredient is separate and has the same identity
  • (If you remove it from the mixture)
  • This resembles heterozygous DNA (Gg)

HETEROGENOUS MIXTURE #2

  • This bowl of fruit salad is delicious and nutritious.
  • It is also a heterogeneous mixture, and the fruits can be taken out of the bowl
  • (Without changing their identity)

PHASE CHANGE

  • This melting ooblek is a phase change
  • It is this because it changed from a solid to a liquid while it melted
  • And the identity of the ooblek stayed the same.
  • This is the same as if it turned from a liquid to a solid
  • The ooblek didn't change; it's particles just got closer or farther apart from each other

PHYSICAL CHANGE

  • When I first put the soap on my hands, it was clear.
  • You can kinda see it in this picture
  • BTW's this soap is vanilla cookie scented.
  • Just wanted to give you the heads up.

PHYSICAL CHANGE

  • When I rubbed my hands together, the soap turned white.
  • This is a physical change.

CHEMICAL CHANGE #1

  • As you can see, the potstickers were seared
  • Some turned brown because of the heat
  • The texture also changed
  • The identity was changed in the potstickers
  • Yummy potstickers :)

CHEMICAL CHANGE #2

  • Ms. Crosby set the money on fire.
  • This shows flammability since a dollar bill is made of mostly paper
  • But she put alcohol on it first so it didn't burn.
  • If we pretended she didn't, then the money would change.
  • It's chemical identity would change and it would be a different substance.
