1.
SCIENCE & MATH IN THE PARK
BY JUSTIN SCRANTON & KALUM BREZEALE
2.
Untitled Slide
3.
PICNIC SHELTER CEILING
This is an example of rotation because the shapes rotate around the center point of the ceiling.
All of the pieces are the same shape, all that changes is the position the shape is in.
4.
PICNIC TABLE
The lines in between the boards are parallel.
We know this because they are straight, don't intersect, and run side by side.
5.
TREE
The branches on this tree seperate at an acute angle.
This means that the angle they make is less than 90 degrees or a right angle.
6.
BIKE RACK
This bike rack is an example of reflection.
This is because the shapes all stay the same but they flip the other way.
7.
FLOWER
This is a picture of the flower reproduction structures.
The structures in this flower are stigma, anthers, and many others.
8.
STICK
This stick is an obtuse angle.
This means it is more than 90 degrees or a right angle.
9.
ROOF
The roof on this building is shaped like a trapezoid.
Its top and bottom lines are parallel but they aren't equal.
Its left and right sides are equal but aren't parallel.
10.
GRATE
This grate has a line of symmetry.
The line goes straight down the middle and both sides of it are equal.
11.
PLANT SHOWING TROPISM
This plant shows phototropism.
Phototropism is a plants response to sunlight.
Sunlight is the stimulus.
12.
CIRRUS CLOUDS
This cloud is a thin, and wispy cloud.
It sits in high-altitude and sometimes it is hard to see.
13.
PULLEY IN A FLAGPOLE
A pulley is a simple machine.
It is used in a flagpole to lift the flag up or pull it down.
A flagpole is used as an everyday tool.
14.
FENCE
The metal bars on this fence meet at a right angle.
A right angle is a 90 degree turn.
15.
TRAFFIC CONES
These two traffic cones are congruent figures.
They are the same size and shape, this makes them congruent or similar.
16.
LEAF FROM A SHRUB
This leaf has a thick cuticle.
We know because it is shiny and almost looks wet.
17.
CROSSING PATHS
These two paths intersect at a right angle.
This makes them perpendicular.
18.
MICKEY (DOG)
Mickey is a dog.
Dogs are vertebrates with fur.
A vertebrate is an animal with a backbone.
19.
BIRD
This is a picture of a bird.
A bird is a vertebrate with wings.
A vertebrate is an animal with a backbone.
20.
EARTHWORM
This is an earthworm.
An earthworm is an invertebrate with no legs or feet.
An invertebrate is an animal without a backbone.
21.
GRAND DADDY LONG-LEG
This is a Grand Daddy Long-Leg spider.
A spider is an invertebrate with more than four legs.
An invertebrate is an animal without a backbone.
22.
ACORN SEED
This is the seed from an acorn nut.
The acorn fell from a tree and this is the seed that was in the acorn.
The seed will grow into another tree.
23.
REFLECTION
We learned that there is a lot more things in nature than meets-the-eye.
We also learned that many of our math & science terms are even out in our very own Cherry Park.
We discovered many new things about the world and everything in it.
