PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Wave: The repeating and periodic disturbance that moves through a medium from one location to another
Medium: A stubstance that makes it possible to transfer energy from one location to a next, most likely through a wave.
Mechanical Wave: A ossilation of matter that travels energy through mediums.
Vibration: a repetitive back and fourth motion of the particles of a medium.
Transfers Wave: A wave that is perpendicular to the axis along which the wave travels.
Crest: The top of a wave.
Trough: Lowest point of a wave.
Longitudinal wave: compression: a wave vibrating in the direction of propagation
rarefaction: The particles become spaced out
Surface wave: Are a comination of longitudinal and transverse, that travels through two mediums.
Amplitude: The distance from the wavelength to the crest.
Wavelength: The distance from crest to crest.
Frequency: the rate at which a vibration occurs that constitutes a wave.
The speed of a wave: Wavelength times frequency.
