MAKING MAPLE SYRUP CANDIES

HOW DOES THE TEMPERATURE AFFECT THE OUTCOME?

WHAT IS MAPLE SYRUP CANDY?

  • Maple syrup candy is simply solidified maple syrup.
  • The sugar in the maple syrup has been boiled and concentrated to very high temperatures so when cooled it's a firm but smooth texture and taste.

HYPOTHESIS

  • My hypothesis was that the high temperatures would not drastically change the appearance or consistency of the candy.

MATERIALS/PROCEDURE

  • In a brief description I used a stove, pan, maple syrup, and a thermometer to test this experiment.
  • I heated my stove up to certain temperatures to see if the sugar actually concentrated and affected the the appearance of the candies

CONCLUSIONS

  • In conclusion, I discovered that yes, the temperature does drastically affect the out outcome of the candy because the higher the sugar concentration is, the harder the appearance and texture the candy is.
