CH.3 MATTER

BY ASHTON MATHEWS PER.6

MATTER AND MASS
-Matter: is anything that has mass or takes up space.
-Mass: is a measure of the amount of water that makes up an object. An example for matter is oxygen and an example of mass is the amount of space the water takes up in a cup.

VOLUME
-Volume: is the measure of size of a body or region in three - dimensional space.
Volume is made to measure mostly shapes. An example of volume is that piece of dust has it because it takes up space and could be measured.

DENSITY
-Density: is the amount of matter in a given space space or volume. For example of density is that a golf ball and a table tennis ball have a close volume but there mass is different which makes the golf ball heavier.

PHYSICAL CHANGE AND CHEMICAL CHANGE
-Physical change:is a change of matter from one form to another without a change in chemical properties.
-Chemical change: it is a change that occurs when one or more substances change into entirely new new substance with different properties. An example of a physical change is when water freezes to ice and chemical change is when milk becomes sour and chunky.

CHEMICAL PROPERTY
-Chemical property: is a property of matter that describes a substance's ability to participate in chemical reactions. A good example for a chemical property is baking soda and vinegar.

PHYSICAL PROPERTY
-Physical property: is a characteristic of a substance that does not involve a chemical change, such as density, color, or hardness. An example of a physical property Is a red balloon because it has a rubbery texture and has density, but very little of it.
