ABOUT THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

  • The digestive system is a group of organs working together to convert food into energy and basic nutrients to feed the entire body.

ABOUT THE LARGE INTESTENT

  • The large intestent has a diameter of 4 inches.
  • The large intestent is 5 feet long.
  • The large intestents job is to get water out of the food.

1ST STEP

  • The first step is the mouth this occurs before you take a bite of your food. The smell of food triggers the saliva witch causes your mouth to water once you taste the food saliva increases.

2ND STEP

  • The Second step is called the Pharynx and Esophagus also called the throat. The Pharynx is what receives the food from your mouth. Branching off the Pharynx is the Esophagus, carries food to the stomach and windpipe, which carries air to your lungs.

3RD STEP

  • The 3rd step is the stomach and small intestine. The stomach is like a organ with strong muscular walls so it could hold food. The stomachs powerful enzymes continue the process of breaking the food down and changing it to a consisting of liquid or paste.

4TH STEP

  • Food sits in the stomach for 2-4 hours. Your stomach turns the food and adds stomach acids and turns the food into a paste called chyme.

THE 5TH STEP

  • The 5th step in the digestive system is where a lot of capalarries absorb the needed nutrients.

THE 6TH STEP

  • The sixth step in the digestive system is all the nutrients not needed in the small intestine goes to the large intestine and works its way out
