Body systems (AKA) organ systems, are groups of organs that work together to do specific jobs in our bodies. There are 11 body systems total.

All systems work together but they don't all perform the same tasks. Some are connected to the heart while others are connected to bones and muscles. Now we will go into detail about some specific body systems.

Muscular System

There is an estimated amount of 700 muscles that make up roughly 1/2 of a human's body weight. There are 3 different kinds of muscles that are called, cardiac muscles(heart), smooth muscles, and skeletal muscles. The muscular system helps with movement and keeping bones working also.

Circulatory System

The circulatory system helps send blood around your body to parts of your body that need them.
(Like recycling arrows)
This system is also called the cardiovascular system. It helps keep the heart and brain going along with many other things. This system transports blood, oxygen, and nutrients through "tubes" called veins. There are more red blood cells than white blood cells. The average child's body has around 4.6-4.8 million red blood cells.

To review, we have 11 body systems that each perform a specific task. Does anybody have any questions? Now that you know about the deeper insides of our bodies, can you answer a few questions?
1. What is your main cardiac muscle?
2. Does your body have have more red or white blood cells?

Thank you for listening and we will "cell" ya' later.
