  • What it was used for then- the "getter" in
  • Vacuum tubes.
  • Name-- origin, language, symbol
  • Cesium, Latin word Ceasius meaning bright blue
  • Cs.

SOURCES

  • Countries- Germany, Northern parts of Asia
  • It is now mined in Germany
  • Process- Crushed, hand- sorted, ground, extracted
  • from pollucite, goes through acid digestion,
  • Alkaline decomposition, and direct reduction.

  • Cesium is not abundant,
  • and is not rare. It isn't common
  • but can still be found fairly easily.

  • In the physical state, it is a solid.
  • Melting point- 28.44 degrees Celsius
  • and 83.19 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Boiling point- 28 degrees Celsius
  • and 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Most reactive with water or

USES

  • Cesium is used to help remove air
  • traces in vacuum tubes.
  • Which means that it will help keep
  • gases and air out of the vacuum tubes.

  • Another use is for atomic clocks,
  • and for medical uses.
  • For medical uses it is taken orally
  • to treat cancer.
