PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Alfred Wegener
He claimed that the earths continents were once connected and is now drifting aparty and shifting
He did not have a good model but he supported with bunch of his theories and knowledge. Like for example, he matched up all the rocks on the atlantic ocean like puzzle pieces and he went overseas and studied fossils.
His theory wasnt accepted until 1950's.
Abraham 1570s
•created a book of maps called Theatrum Orbis Terrarum
•he said that the continental drift "tore" America from Europe and Africa. His sources were gone and extremely rare but some came from cartographers
•he was successful and accepted
Alfred
•proposed the theory of plate tectonics and continental drifts
•he said that the supercontinent called the Pangaea drifted apart into pieces, he found similar fossils and rocks in different continents
•his theory wasnt accepted well until the 1960s.
Harry Hess
•proposed the theory of sea-floor spreading and plate tectonics
•addressed how seafloor spreading worked and how the continents split apart. he researched many minerals and guyots.
•this theory is still accepted now
