COMMUNITY & ECOSYSTEMS

  • Definition: A group of living organisms together living in the same place and having similar traits
  • I used this picture because, this shows a group of living organisms (people) that seem to have the characteristics (by being vets.)

ORGANISMS

  • Definition: one single-celled living being (plants, animals, humans.)
  • I used this picture because, a dog is an example of a living being.

FOOD PYRAMIDS

  • Definiton: A food diagram in a shape of a pyramid that shows nutritional value for food.
  • I used this picture because, it is a representation of the food pyramid.

FOOD WEB

  • Definition: a system which it shows predator's prey.
  • I used this picture because, it is a representation of the food web.

TROPHIC LEVELS

  • Definition: a place (position) that an organism takes in a food chain.
  • I used this picture because, it is a representation of trophic levels.

DETRIVORES

  • Definition: Animals that eat dead and organic substances. (especially plant detritus.)
  • I used this picture because, a worm is an example of a detrivore.

DETRITUS

  • Definition: Any type of waste or debris.
  • I used this picture because, it is an example of waste.

DECOMPOSERS

  • Definition: Organisms that eat dead or decaying organisms (example: fly, road kill.)
  • I used this picture because, it is an example of a decomposer.

OMNIVORES, CARNIVORES, & HERBIVORES

  • Definition: (Carnivores: Organisms that consumes meat.) (Herbivores: Organisms that consumes plants and vegetables.) (Omnivores: Organisms that consume both mets and plant (vegetables, too.)
  • I used this picture because, bears are examples of omnivores. I did a picture of Omnivores since it is showing both examples of carnivores and herbivores.

TERTIARY, SECONDARY, & PRIMARY CONSUMERS

  • Definition: (Tertiary: The top carnivore on the food chain that eats other carnivores.) (Secondary: An animal that consumes primary consumers. Secondary consumers are omnivores (eats both meat and plants.) (Primary: An animal that usually consumes plants (which would make them herbivores.)
  • I used this picture because,

HETEROTROPHS & CONSUMERS

  • Definition: Organisms that eat each other.
  • I used this picture because, it is an example of a heterotroph.

AUTOTROPHS

  • Definition: An organism that uses natural things as nutrients (a plant uses carbon dioxide.)
  • I used this picture because, it is an example of an autotroph.

PRODUCERS

  • Definition: A company or a person (a farmer) that supplies goods and food for money.
  • I used this picture because, it is an example of a producer (farmer.)

BIOMASS

  • Definition: The amount of organisms in a living habitat.
  • I used this picture because, it is an example of biomass.

PHOTOSYNTHESIS

  • Definition: The confusing process by which carbon dioxide, water, and certain artificial salts are converted into carbohydrates by green plants, algae, and certain bacteria, using energy from the sun and chlorophyll.
  • I used this picture because, it shows photosynthesis (a flower in the sun.)

ENERGY

  • Definition: The space for intense activities.
  • I used this picture because, it shows a form of energy.

CARRYING CAPACITY

  • Definition: The exceeded amount of organisms that a particular species can support.
  • I used this picture because, it is an understandable "graph" to carrying capacity.

ABIOTIC LIMITS

  • Definition: How much an abiotic system can hold.
  • I used this picture because, a part of nature like water and rocks are abiotic and they also have limits.

BIOTIC LIMITS

  • Definition: How much a biotic system can hold.
  • I used this picture because, it shows a flower and flowers (which are biotic,) have a biotic limit.

REPRODUCTION & REPRODUCTION POTENTIAL

  • Definition: (Reproduction: To make a close representation of someone.) (Reproduction potential: the relative capacity of a species to reproduce itself under conditions.)
  • I used this picture because, it shows that the kitten is a result of reproduction.

LIMITING FACTORS

  • Definition: Limits the reaction rate in anything.
  • I used this picture because, it shows a "graph" or representation of limiting factors.
