NICOLAUS COPERNICUS

  • Interested in Greek idea that the Sun stood in the center of the universe
  • Reasoned that the stars, Earth, and other planets revolved around the Sun
  • Did not publish his work

JOHANNES KEPLER

  • Believed that certain mathematical laws govern planetary motion
  • Continued Brahe's work
  • His laws proved that Corpernicus' ideas were true

GALILEO GALILEI

  • Proved Aristole's idea was wrong
  • Found that a falling object accelerates at a fixed and predictable rate
  • Observations clearly supported Corpernicus' theories
