POSITIVE THINGS about SCOTLAND

• Great education & literacy
• Scottish students don't need to pay university tuition fees at Scottish universities
• National Health Care
• Phenomenal GDP ($2.387 trillion)
• Great public transportation

PROBLEMS with SCOTLAND

• Alcoholism and Drug abuse
• High crime rate
• Unemployment is another issue (21% unemployed)
• Scotland trying to become independent from the United Kimgdom
• Lots of refugees (about 55,000 refugees)

WHAT IS SCOTLAND DOING ABOUT THIS?

• Next autumn, the people of Scotland will vote
• They will vote on whether the nation should become an independent country

WHAT OCCURRED LAST TIME THEY WERE INDEPENDENT?

• In the late 1690s an independent Scotland launched an ambitious plan
• But ultimately the doomed scheme to create a colony in what is now Panama
• In 1698, a fleet of five ships sailed from Leith docks near Edinburgh to find a colony in Panama
• Those five ships carried 1,200 settlers
• Even before they made landfall, the colonists had begun to die

WHAT OCCURED LAST TIME (CONTINUED)

• Tropical diseases like: malaria, yellow fever, and bloody flux cut them down even faster on land
• To make it even worse, thousands of private citizens sank their life savings into the Panama scheme
• This disaster helped end Scotland's independence
• For the colony had been funded by public subscription-- an early example of financial mania

WHAT ARE THE PEOPLE DOING TO STOP THESE ISSUES?

• The Scottish people know these problems
• But, the Scotts don't do anything to stop them

THE SOLUTION

• Make jobs easier to get & apply for
• Create countrywide drug/alcohol awareness program
• Increase the police officers to stop crime
• Becoming independent is fine, but it adds responsibility to Scotland
• Crack down on illegal aliens
