WHY WE HAVE SEASONS

• Seasons happen on earth because of the earths tilt and its rotation. In June the northern hemisphere is in direct sunlight so it will be summer in place around America. In June the Southern Hemisphere will be in indirect sunlight so it will be winter in places like Australia. The earths axis is on a 23.5 degree angle and it stays at that angle for the whole rotation around the sun.

ARE SEASONS THE SAME EVERYEHERE?

• There are different seasons in different states like Gold Coast and Canberra because of the amount of pressure in these places. Cold air moves south from the arctic and it is dense and tends to displace warm air and it does that. It then falls into the zone of colder air beneath it which then cools the water rapidly turning it into ice.

GOLD COAST IN WINTER AND SUMMER

• Gold Coast, the Gold Coast is not very different in winter and summer. It is cold during the morning but it isn't too cold during the day where as somewhere like Canberra would be snowing. It doesn't snow so no sports we do gets affected unless the weather is bad like rain. The average temperature in Gold Coast in winter is 15*C. The average temperature in Gold Coast in summer is 25*C. The effect of change from winter to summer is 10*C.

RAINFALL AND HOURS OF SUNLIGHT FOR SUMMER AND WINTER

• The average rainfall in winter is around 200mm. The average rainfall in summer is around 480mm. The average amount of sunlight in winter is 7 hours. The average amount of sunlight in summer is 8 hours. I will be explaining why we get more rain in summer than in winter in my next slide or the one after that.

HOW CLIMATE CAN CHANGE HUMAN ACTIVITY

• The climate and seasons can change human activity like what we do like surfing or like skiing. It all depends on where you are like the arctic or Gold Coast. The climate can also have a massive effect because it starts to get hot because the earths tilt means that the Southern Hemisphere gets direct sunlight In December, January and February, but it could also rain a lot because of the heat change, the evaporation stage of the water cycle will speed up double what it would be as in winter so that would make the whole cycle run faster.
