• Puritan idea based cultures
• Cities Popped up around commercial centers and shipping hubs
• Education was available so kids could read the bible
• Large numbers of immigrants came in
• Most states outlawed slavery

NORTH CONT.

• Wanted high tariffs

SOUTH

• Agricultural based culture and strict class system
• Very few large cities
• No public education; wealthy kids were private schooled
• Few jobs means few immigrants
• A great number of slaves

SOUTH CONT.

• Wanted low tariffs and protection of slavery

WEST

• NW reflected northern cultures
• SW reflected southern cultures
• Individualism based on gods favor and hard work
• Wanted cheap land
• And uncontrolled land bank for land purchases
