  • Sydney is the largest and perhaps the most influential city in Australia.
  • It is located on the southeastern coast of the continent, in the amazing Gulf Port Jackson.
  • Sydney population is about 5 million people
  • it's the most important business, financial and cultural center of the country
  • Many people think that Sydney is the capital of Australia, but in fact it is not so

HISTORY
Since the 17th century, the territory of modern Sydney was used by the British kingdom as a place of exile criminals. First convicts appeared on the bay of Port-Jackson January 26, 1788 - today this day is celebrated as a national day of Australia.The city was founded by Arthur Phillip and the first Fleet, as a colony of exiled convicts in 1788. Only at the beginning of the 19th century with the appointment of a new Governor of Makvouri (1810-1821) the colony finally started its way to prosperity and independence.

ATTRACTIONS

the most popular attractions are concentrated around the great harbor of Port Jackson, in honor of which the town got its nickname "The Harbour City

OPERA HOUSE
Visiting card of the city, its main symbol is a wonderful building of the Opera House in Sydney. Interesting form the roof of the building resembles an enormous ship sails or white sea shells, the Opera House has become one of the most recognizable buildings in the world

HARBOUR BRIDGE
Another symbol of the city-the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge, which is one of the top ten large arched bridges of the world. The steel arch bridge rises over the Bay to a height of 139 meters and the length of the arch span is over 500 meters.
